Where two or more candidates secure equal total marks in the Main Examination they are bracketed and ranked according to age, the oldest being considered first. If there is still a tie in age, the candidate who acquired the educational qualification at an earlier date is considered; where a preferential educational qualification is prescribed, that qualification takes priority over age.
Definition of Local Candidate
A local candidate is one who studied in an educational institution for not less than four consecutive academic years up to and including the year in which he or she appeared for the 7th class or equivalent examination, or, failing that, who studied for not less than seven years up to and including that year, the maximum period of study deciding the local area. Those who did not study during the relevant period are treated as local candidates by residence. Study certificates from the institution or a residence certificate from a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Mandal Revenue Officer must be produced; where the candidate studied up to 7th class, a study certificate is mandatory and a residence certificate will not be accepted.
