Project Summary

The project develops a bioactive scaffold for dental pulp regeneration in diabetic conditions, combining Resolvin E1 with VEGF. The work covers biopolymer scaffold fabrication and characterization, controlled release studies of bioactive molecules, and in vitro evaluation using human dental pulp stem cells under hyperglycaemic and inflammatory conditions.

Desired Skills

  • Biopolymer scaffold fabrication: chemical modification of chitosan or other polysaccharides, hydrogel preparation by ionic, covalent or physical crosslinking, porous scaffolds by freeze-drying or injectable in situ gelling systems, and sterilization without loss of structure or bioactivity.
  • Materials characterization: FTIR, 1H NMR, XRD and molecular weight determination by GPC; SEM and pore size analysis; rheology including gelation kinetics, viscoelastic moduli and injectability; swelling, in vitro degradation and mechanical testing; thermal analysis by TGA and DSC.
  • Controlled release of bioactive molecules: loading of labile lipid mediators and protein growth factors by encapsulation, adsorption or conjugation, design of dual or sequential release systems, in vitro release studies quantified by ELISA, HPLC or LC-MS, and fitting release data to kinetic models such as Higuchi and Korsmeyer-Peppas.
