- The number of training slots shown is provisional and may increase or decrease depending on the actual needs of the administration.
Merit List and Tie-Breaking
The panel is prepared on the simple average of the percentage of marks in Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate) and the percentage of marks in ITI in the trade in which apprenticeship is sought. For Matriculation percentage, marks in all subjects are reckoned, not any single subject or group of subjects; for ITI percentage, the marks in the provisional or final certificate are reckoned. If two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate is preferred; if the dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed Matriculation earlier is considered first. The final merit list is prepared Division/Unit-wise, trade-wise and community-wise, equal to the number of slots, in descending order of marks. No centralized merit list is formed.
Reservation and Unfilled Seats
When the prescribed number of SC or ST candidates are not available, the training places reserved for them may be filled by the other of the two, and if still unfilled, by candidates not belonging to SC or ST. Seats remaining unfilled by OBC or EWS candidates are filled by unreserved category candidates. PwBD and Ex-servicemen seats are not separate or additional; they are already included in the total number of seats shown for each trade.
Training Period and Stipend
Training period and stipend will be as per extant rules and directives issued by the Railway Board from time to time. No hostel accommodation will be provided and selected candidates will have to make their own arrangements during training as per the Apprentice Act 1961, and they will be released on completion of the training. Before commencement of training in the designated trade, the selected candidate, or the guardian if the candidate is a minor, has to enter into a Contract of Apprenticeship with the employer.
