Consultant (Sports Coach) - Qualification and Experience
Diploma or higher degree in Sports Coaching from Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NSNIS), OR medal winner or participation in National Sports Events or Games thereby representing an Indian State, OR medal winner or participation in International sports events or Games thereby representing India. Coaching experience should preferably be more than 15 years in the respective sports discipline, depending upon the specific certification or license required in the identified sports discipline. Essential qualification and work experience, if any, shall be taken into account as on 09/10/2026.

Selection Process

Selection is subject to medical fitness; a Medical Fitness Certificate from a registered medical practitioner or doctor is mandatory before engagement.
Salary Structure
Consolidated Rs. 28,000 to Rs. 36,000 per month, applicable for engagement of a minimum of 6 hours a day for six days a week; rates may be pro-rated if the engagement is for less or more than 6 hours a day

Important Details
- The engagement is purely temporary on a tenure basis and does not create any right to regular appointment.
- Ex-employees of SAIL and of other PSUs or Government organizations who separated through Voluntary Retirement are not considered for engagement.
- A self-certificate that the candidate has not separated due to Voluntary Retirement is required.
- No TA/DA is admissible for attending the walk-in interview.
- The performance of the engaged coach is reviewed periodically and the tenure may be curtailed or extended with one month's notice.
Other Benefits
- Ex-employees of SAIL may retain their allotted Company accommodation during the engagement period, with rent and electricity and water charges payable for that category of accommodation
- Other ex-employees of SAIL and non-SAIL ex-employees may be provided 2 BR or equivalent Company accommodation on payment basis, subject to availability
- No HRA is admissible
- Ex-employees of SAIL continue with the medical benefits available to ex-employees; other non-SAIL ex-employees get medical benefits for self only at Company hospitals without any referrals
- 10 days leave in a year, subject to prior approval
Tenure and Termination
The initial tenure is one year, extendable twice by one year each at the discretion of the Company on satisfactory performance, up to a maximum of three years, subject to the upper age limit of 65 years. There is no bar on re-engagement. Either party may terminate the engagement by giving one month's notice; the Company may terminate forthwith for medical unfitness likely to continue for a considerable period, poor performance, moral turpitude, conviction by a court of law, insolvency, loss of license to practice, grave misconduct or financial irregularity.
Other Terms and Conditions
- TA/DA is payable as per the entitlement of the lowest category of Executive cadre under the SAIL Travelling Allowance (TA) Rules 2021; for ex-employees of SAIL, as per the entitlement of the grade in which the employee superannuated
- Presidential directive on reservation as applicable to appointments in Public Enterprises will be followed
- The remuneration is consolidated pay, so no PF, Gratuity or other benefit is payable unless specified
- Coaches must give their services in emergent conditions and beyond normal working hours during sporting events without any extra remuneration
- Coaches are responsible for proper usage of all assets and training equipment kits provided by the Company
- Income Tax/GST shall be dealt with as per applicable provisions of the Income Tax/GST Act
