Probation, Joining Time and Study Course
The period of probation for all faculty posts is two years. Joining time is 30 days from the issue of the appointment letter, and extension is considered only in exceptional cases with the approval of the Competent Authority. A candidate pursuing any program such as MCh, DM or Fellowships will be allowed to join only if the course is completed on or before the last date of joining given in the offer letter, and no request to join as faculty while continuing the course will be considered.
Residential Accommodation and Vacation Eligibility
Residential accommodation is provided to faculty appointed at AIIMS, but in view of the paucity of campus accommodation it may not be possible to provide it soon after joining; where no accommodation is provided, House Rent Allowance as admissible to Central Government servants of similar status stationed at Vijaypur (Samba, UT of J&K) is given. Faculty appointed on a regular basis become eligible for vacation after completing six months of regular service, and a member completing six months of service after the start of a vacation period is not eligible for that vacation.
DNB Equivalence
Candidates holding DNB in broad specialties or super specialties as the essential qualifying education must produce documentary evidence of equivalence with MD/MS/DM/MCh issued by the competent authority as per NMC New Delhi notification dated 14.02.2022. DNB in broad specialty and super specialty granted in a medical institution with an attached hospital, or in a hospital with 500 or more beds, by the National Board of Examinations is equivalent in all respects to the corresponding MD/MS and DM/MCh postgraduate qualification; in all other cases, senior residency in a medical college for an additional period of one year is required for equivalence for teaching purposes.
Experience Counting Rules
Teaching or research experience acquired only after the postgraduate qualification or Ph.D., as applicable in the specialty, is considered. Those who have DNB as the qualifying degree need one year of extra experience, that is a total of 4 years from an MCI recognized or permitted institution, for equivalence if the bed strength of the institution or hospital where the DNB training was done is less than 500. Teaching experience counted for the applied post must be in the concerned specialty from an NMC/MCI recognized medical college, and where NMC/MCI recognition is from a particular year, experience prior to that is not considered. Postgraduate experience acquired in an NMC/MCI recognized institution is considered valid only where the institution is recognized for the MBBS course or, if it awards only a PG degree, where the NMC has recognized the PG course in the specialty.
OBC and EWS Certificate Validity
OBC candidates must produce a valid Non-Creamy Layer certificate in the DoPT prescribed format, and only a certificate issued during the period from 01.04.2026 to 13.11.2026 is valid for this recruitment; certificates issued outside this window are treated as invalid and the candidature as OBC stands cancelled. Candidates without a valid NCL-OBC certificate for 2026-2027 at the time of application must upload the older certificate with the acknowledgement slip of the renewal application, and must produce the valid certificate when asked. EWS candidates must submit an Income and Assets certificate in the prescribed format based on income of financial year 2025-2026, issued from 01.04.2026 to 13.11.2026 and valid for 2026-2027; candidates who fail to produce a valid EWS certificate by the cutoff date are considered as UR candidates.
