- A Master degree with First or Higher Second Class from a recognized University in the subject Education/Distance Education/Social Science/Languages with Ph.D. degree and SET or NET in the subject concerned or in an allied/relevant subject and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work, with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research/policy papers in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a total research score of at least 120 as per Government Resolution dated 08/03/2019 of Government of Maharashtra. OR an outstanding professional with established reputation in the relevant field who has made significant contribution to knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline.

Marks Relaxation and Reservation
- A relaxation of 5% marks (from 55% to 50%) is provided to Ph.D. Degree holders who obtained their Master's Degree prior to 19 September 1991.
- A relaxation of 5% is allowed at the Bachelor's as well as the Master's level for SC/ST/OBC (Non creamy Layer) and differently abled candidates.
- 4% reservation will be observed for physically handicapped candidates as per Government Resolution dated 29.05.2019.
- 30% reservation for women shall be observed as per Government norms.
- Non-Creamy Layer Certificate for DT-A, NT-B, NT-C, NT-D, OBC and SBC categories must be valid till 31.03.2027.
- Candidates having cleared State Eligibility Test (SET) from a State other than Maharashtra shall not be considered for appointment.
- Reserved category candidates domiciled outside Maharashtra will be treated as Open category candidates.
- A/B/C/D points in VJ/NT Category are interchangeable as per Government Resolution dated 29 May 2017.
