Selection Process
- 1Merit based on ACRs/APARs
Selection is by merit; overall grading in the ACRs/APARs should not be below 'Very Good'. Candidature is considered by the Services Selection Committee.
Salary Structure
Rs. 1,00,000-2,60,000 (Revised) (Pre-revised Rs. 43200-66000), elevated to Rs. 1,20,000-2,80,000 after 3 years regular service

Important Details
- The post is filled by absorption through composite method from officers of Major Port Authorities.
- Applications are accepted only through the Online Application Portal of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways; no application other than through OAP is accepted.

Deputation Eligibility (Absorption through Composite Method)
- Officers holding posts in the scale of Rs. 80000-220000 (pre-revised Rs. 32900-58000) with three years regular service in the grade in the Civil Engineering Department of a Major Port Authority
- Officers holding the post of Chief Engineer and equivalent posts in the Civil Engineering Department in the scale of Rs. 100000-260000 (pre-revised Rs. 43200-66000 / 18500-450-23900) with two years regular service in the grade
- Officers holding the post of Deputy Chief Engineer and equivalent posts in the Civil Engineering Department in the scale of Rs. 80000-220000 (pre-revised Rs. 32900-58000 / 16000-20800) and above with five years regular service in the grade in the Central Government or State Government or Union Territory Administration / Public Sector Undertakings or Autonomous Bodies (other than Major Port Authorities)
Crucial Date for Eligibility
The crucial date for eligibility criteria is the last date of closing of application, 12.11.2026.
Forwarding of Applications
Applications must reach through the proper channel by the Port within 15 days of the last date of receipt of applications, that is on or before 27.11.2026. Where APARs or vigilance clearance take time, the Port may forward the application through proper channel without them by email before the due date, and send the remaining documents later by registered post.
Withdrawal of Candidature
A Port official who withdraws his or her candidature after selection by the Services Selection Committee will be debarred from future selection to HOD level posts in all Major Port Authorities for two years.
Penalty Disclosure
If any major or minor penalty has been imposed on the applicant during the last 10 years, the disciplinary case leading to the penalty along with the necessary documents must be sent by the forwarding authority with the application.
